I am delighted to present the fourth edition of the Dingle Film Festival.
I believe the change in our festival date will prove to be an excellent choice. It’s been six months since our last festival in September and it’s been an exciting time putting together this programme.

Thanks to HoloVis we will be screening our digital films through a 4K projector, which is a first for Ireland! We are also proud to be holding Ireland’s first RED users gathering. Support is growing for the festival, both locally and nationally and the festival is finding itself on both the national and international calendar.

The cameras you see around the streets of Dingle are with none other than Geoff Wonfor. Geoff was a guest last year with his Beatles Anthology and was so impressed he has returned this year to make a feature documentary on the festival. I will be interviewing Geoff over a pint in Curran’s bar on Sunday to find out more about what this project means to him.

Our Workshop Programme includes a 4K/RED/DCI seminar on Saturday and a talk on DPC File Creation on Friday. Along with this we are honoured to welcome the world’s greatest artist in the area of sound, Tom Johnson. Brendan Touhy will present a discussion on ‘The Future of Irish Film’.
I am delighted to welcome to the festival, Cillian Murphy with our opening film, ‘Perrier’s Bounty’ and to give a special welcome to all our festival guests.

Our nod to the gangster in film will be fun - A Mobsters & Molls Evening with James Cagney’s ‘The Public Enemy’ and Paddy Breathnach and Rob Walpole talking about their film ‘I Went Down’ which is still one of the highest box office records for an irish independent film.

Continuing our partnership with Siamsa Tíre we bring you ‘Wisdom’ by Andrew Zuckerman from New York, an incredible project which brings together a profound and global group of extraordinary perspectives on life.
Documentary features strong this year as does Irish film and I am delighted we have three family events with one feature being presented by the Dingle Business Chamber absolutely free.

Finally, I asked Michael O’Sullivan to come up with his choice to close the Festival this year. It is with real pleasure that we bring you the Kubrick classic ‘Barry Lyndon’ on 35mm print as Michael’s choice.

See you in the Phoenix, the Cinemobile and the Clubs where there will
be everything from traditional music to 20’s swing.
